It’s Summer and you know what that means... MORE live music!!!!!
We have another summer show coming up next week and we want you to be there! For those of you that can't make it, don't fret! we do have plans to hit the road very soon. Stay tuned for details on all that.

We will be opening up for Girl in a Coma & Black Box Revelation on Tuesday July 24th at The Garrison here in Toronto.

Hi Everyone!

Here is the tracklisting for the War Child CANADA compilation as promised. Look out for Magneta Lane's exclusive acoustic track "Three" recorded for War Child Canada. You will not find this song anywhere else! Release date is set for June 1st/2012! You will be able to get your copy via iTunes!

Hey Everyone!

Magneta is back in the grind, yup new music is on the way. We want to update you guys on a number of things that are going on with the band! We've been really busy with a number of things.

FIRST THINGS FIRST...THIS FRIDAY!

Drake Hotel 4/20 SHOW!

ML will be sharing the stage with Low Level Flight at The Drake Hotel April 20th!! We will be playing our new songs off our upcoming EP. Tickets are $10 at the door and doors are at 8pm. We hit the stage at 9pm.

Witch Rock EP

Our Ep 'Witch Rock' has been pushed back to the summer. We felt that it sounded more like a summer record. The title Witch Rock was inspired by Rick and James (our producers) during recording. We sat there talking about music genres and how the EP didnt really fit in anywhere (always the black sheep haha) and so they created one for us,just for fun. We thought it perfectly tied in with the theme of our record, the celebration of our most inner villains. Nothing makes us more curious than a witch. The witch is the ultimate villain. The ultimate bad girl. And we celebrate her, in others and in ourselves.

The EP consists of four singles and will come out on Splendor House Records - our new record label. We are currently working on getting a trailer done for the first single, that should be out by the end of may with the official release date. We are also taking new promo pictures this month with the talented Stephanie Luong. Please view her works here :

We are looking forward to touring over the Summer, but tour dates and plans at the moment are still TBA. However, once we have set dates you all will be the first to know! We are excited to play the new songs live this friday in Toronto for the first time! We have been working really hard getting our shit together. We are so excited for you guys to hear it!

War Child Canada

We wrote and recorded a new acoustic song exclusively this past March for War Child, called 'Three'. It will be released this Spring on their compilation. We will have more details on that in our next blog.

NEW MERCH STORE, NEW ML SINGLE NEWS , NEW LABEL...NEW YEAR!

Hey Everyone!

It has been a while since we sent our last update and we apologize for that! Our band email got spammed and crashed, so if you have been trying to reach us though email and we haven’t replied that is why. We have set up a new email where you can send us your questions or requests: admin@magnetalane.com

The band had a very low key 2011 but still a fun one playing TIFF, attending the Indie Awards, Indie Week, touring with Scottish band Glasvegas and a lot of other great moments. We took the time this year to sit down and re-evaluate what we were going to do with our next release. Sometimes time off can be a good thing, especially when making such an important decision. We have written and are continuing to write some new material but have decided on a new single. You guys will be able to hear the new track at the end of March/early April. The exact date TBA only because we are finalizing a couple of details in our plans so we want to make sure everything is executed with great timing.

The new ML single is called "Burn". Our sound has evolved and we are extremely excited to bring this forward to everyone. The Album (still debating on whether it will be an EP now or LP first) was produced by Rick and James of Finger 11. And they have tremendously helped us to grow as songwriters and have been so much fun to work with and will continue to work on the ML release with us this year. The release is being mixed and mastered by Jon Drew who at this point is the 4th member of Magneta Lane and has known us for almost a decade now.

We will also have touring news as the year moves along.

SPLENDOR HOUSE RECORDS

We also started up our own record label which will be launching soon. After years of trying to find our legs in the musical world of ours we decided that it was time to expand our horizons and put all our knowledge to use. Splendor House Records is proud to announce that it will be releasing Magneta Lane's album titled "Witch Rock" this 2012. We will have more info available on Splendor House Records coming soon. Splendor House's distribution has been picked up by a major label which we are very excited to be joining forces with. We will make that announcement shortly and include information on other artists that will also be on our roster.

More Distortion is MORE....

Dear Studio Diary...lol
We are in day two of recording the new record. Alot going on! We are finally settled in. In the next week we will be focusing on the songs we think are the chosen singles for the record...The titles are as follows:

1) Burn
2) What are you good for?
3) Leave the light on
4) Lucky

Each song has its own vibe and we are definately trying new things on this record. So far we've done most of the drums. Bass. And will be working on the vox, guitar, more bass and drums where needed...and the little things that add character to each song. THATS MY FAVOURITE PART, weird little noises, effects on vocals or instruments etc. We are really paying close attention to the story telling in each song and making sure you feel it in every riff, chord, crash, beat, word, slide, etc. Today we found a really distorted guitar sound that fit 'What are you good for ' perfectly. It is definately one of the heavier songs on the record. You will see our many faces on this LP.

We are still going crazy thinking of titles for the record. What do you guys think of when a villain comes to mind?... the album is a celebration of our bad sides, our inner villains, accepting it for what it is and gaining strength in that.

We are also happy to announce that Jon Drew will be mixing and mastering the record. Total dream team. We are so stoked to get this in your hands and its only day two!

Release me, you fool.

Hi November.

Truth be told I hate this month. Always feels like i'm in between something but this year i've taken the opportunity to actually get as much done as possible. Starting Nov 21st we are heading into Coalition Studios and recording the new ML singles. Expect a change, a good one. I'm extremely happy. We continue rehearsal for recording this week.

I'm proud of myself for being more focused this time than in previous years. I cant wait till you all hear the new music! Scratching our heads trying to come up with an album title.

On a random note:

Had the most hilarious thing happen to me recently which i wanted to share cause it was just so bizarre. The other day I was driving home and 5 minutes prior to getting into my neighbourhood i see a million cop cars zoom right past us. At this point we knew something had happened in the area. The police cars disapeared into the distance.Turing onto my street, we see cop cars...just parked...so we are simply going to pass by at this point. Then to our surprise their lights come on. We get pulled over, asked to exit the car, guns pointed at us and had cuffs put on us. HOW CRAZY IS THAT. We have no idea whats happening at this point. They later explain that there was a shooting in the school on our street, and our car matched the getaway car. LMFAO! they search everything and then clear us after 20mins. I have never experienced such a thing but couldnt help but laugh at the confusion that had just happened. Talk about wrong place at the wrong time. Thought that would make you guys laugh. Im not even fucking with you.
